Frequently Asked Questions about Monobloc Filling and Capping Machines

A Filling & Capping Monoblock is an integrated, fully automated packaging system that combines multiple stages, such as filling, capping, and sometimes labeling or packing onto a single machine platform. Unlike traditional lines with separate machines connected by long conveyors, monoblocks offer a compact "one-stop solution" for liquid, paste (cream) or solids packaging.

Filling and capping monoblocks are most commonly used for liquid products used with a wide viscosity spectrum, from low-viscosity, water-like liquids to oils and sauces, to highly viscous creams and pastes. However, they can also be used for Filling bulk and powder products, especially in the pharma and food industry (food supplements, instant soups, seasoning mixes) and occasionally in the production of bulk fertilizers and chemicals.

Monoblock filling and capping machines are highly versatile and can handle a wide range of containers, from microliter vials to containers larger than five liters. Thanks to their integrated starwheel system, these machines are ideal for stabilizing containers that might tip over on a standard conveyor belt.

Common container types

  • Bottles: these are common applications, including PET, HDPE, and PVC plastic bottles, as well as glass bottles.
  • Glass and cans: often used for more viscous products like jams, creams, or sauces, monobloc machines can fill and seal glass and plastic jars.
  • Vials and ampoules: specialised monoblocs process small glass vials or ampoules for liquid medicines or vaccines.
  • Pipe: our tube filling machines are designed for filling and closing plastic or metal tubes for products such as toothpaste or ointments.
  • Flexible packaging: specialised equipment can fill and seal Doypacks (spouted pouches) and stand-up pouches.
  • Large containers: for buckets and pails larger monobloc units are used

We supply filling and capping monoblocks, specially developed for various applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food and beverage, and chemical industries:

  • Space-savingIts compact design is ideal for installations with limited space.
  • Higher efficiencyIntegrating multiple process steps into one system reduces manual effort and allows for higher throughput.
  • PrecisionThe use of servo-controlled starwheels and pumps ensures a high accuracy of filling quantities (often within ±1 %) and precise capping torque.

Our state-of-the-art monobloc filling machines are designed for rapid changeovers. Components that come into contact with containers and closures, such as starwheels, guides, and grippers, can be adapted or replaced to handle various bottle shapes (round, square, oval) and sizes, as well as different closures.
