Frequently asked questions about filling machines
What is a liquid filling machine and what types of containers does it fill into?
A liquid filling machine is an industrial equipment used to dispense a precise quantity of liquid product into solid containers such as bottles, jars, ampoules, vials, canisters or pouches.
What are the fundamental differences between our filling machines?
- APOLLO FM is a flowmetric linear filling machine operating (depending on the type of product being filled) based on mass or induction flow meters. The machine excels in filling precision, is very well cleanable, simple to operate and can be easily set to another format. A very typical use of these fillers is in pharma, cosmetics, food and chemical industries.
- APOLLO LP is a rotary pump filling machine using gear, lobe or peristaltic pumps, mainly intended for filling dense products, e.g. food products with pieces of fruits, vegetables, nuts etc.
- APOLLO LPW net weight linear filling machine works on the principle of the exact weight of the product itself, not its volume or filling level. The equipment is mainly intended for production facilities, where the filling process is monitored and the measured data is archived for further evaluation. This filler is ideal for High-Value Products (e.g. high-end pharmaceuticals) where overfilling even a small amount leads to significant profit loss, or for Variable Density Items.
- APOLLO EX-PROOF is an automatic linear filling machine designed for filling flammable and explosive substances, such as diluents, paints solvents, substances based on acetone, alcohol etc.
- APOLLO ANTICORROSIVE is a linear filling machine in plastic execution developed for filling highly corrosive substances, which would affect and degrade the parts made of stainless steel of the standard version.
What products (what applications) are liquid filling machines suitable for?
Filling machines are for filling Food, Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals, Industrialand Household chemicals as well as Automotive products designed.
What's the difference between a flow, piston and weigh filling machine?
Flow fillers measure liquid volume using flow meters (electromagnetic or mass), while piston fillers use a reciprocating cylinder to physically displace a set volume of product, while Piston fillers use a reciprocating cylinder to physically displace a set volume of product. Weighing fillers conversely, use load cells or weighing pumps to fill containers based on a precise target weight, making them ideal for high-value products or those with varying densities.
Piston fillers are ideally suited for viscous pastes, flowmeters for low-viscosity media, and weighing systems for the highest precision with valuable products.
How is the filling machine integrated into the filling line?
The filling machine is the main component of an automated filling line. It is integrated into the system with regard to containers and product feeding as well as automatic process control. Empty containers are supplied to the filling machine via a filling conveyor belt or a fully automated packaging loader. The filled containers are transported from the filling machine to the capping machine by means of a discharge conveyor.
